WWF Adria was officially established in 2015, although WWF has been active in the Western Balkans and Adria region for more than 20 years. WWF Adria works across Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia to protect and restore the region's exceptional natural heritage for the benefit of people and nature.
WWF Adria operates in a uniquely diverse regional context spanning eight countries, including two European Union Member States and six countries at different stages of the European Union accession process. It operates through two WWF Adria offices, in Zagreb and Belgrade, and partner organizations across the region. The region encompasses a broad range of political, institutional, legal, and socio-economic environments, requiring tailored approaches while maintaining a coherent regional vision for conservation and sustainable development.
Through regional leadership, national engagement, and strategic partnerships, WWF Adria works to deliver lasting conservation outcomes, strengthen environmental governance, support communities, and promote nature-positive and climate-resilient development throughout the region.
