The Local Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs within the organization. This position involves conducting assessments, analyzing data, developing solutions, and providing technical expertise to ensure compliance with relevant legal regulations and Weidmann standards. The EHS Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks, promote a culture of safety, and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.
How you’ll make an impact…
- Conduct regular environmental, health, and safety assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, risks, and compliance issues within the workplace
- Analyze data related to environmental performance, occupational injuries and illnesses, near misses, hazards, and other relevant metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Develop and implement strategies, policies, procedures, and programs to mitigate risks, improve safety performance, and ensure compliance with local regulations
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on topics such as hazardous materials management, air and water quality monitoring, ergonomics, and emergency response
- Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, hazards, and near misses, and assist in the development of corrective actions and preventive measures to prevent recurrence
- Coordinate employee training programs on topics such as hazard recognition, chemical safety, emergency response procedures, and other relevant EHS topics
- Serve as a contact person with regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, permits, inspections, and other regulatory obligations
- Stay informed about developments in environmental, health, and safety regulations, standards, and best practices, and communicate relevant changes to stakeholders within the organization
